So some of you know - some of you may not know but my home is in NYC so my idea of garbage day is the disposal in the hallway of my apartment building. For the last six weeks, however, I have been staying in my childhood home in suburbia. So garbage pick up is Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This may sound surprising - but I love garbage day. I have to wake up early (before 6:00) put the garbage bags in the garbage can and then drag it down to the curve. The neighbors and neighborhood is still sleeping and then I go for a run. I pass the garbage trucks with the masked workers hopping on and off the truck to pick up the garbage. I wave, they wave back. I finish my run and the garbage is gone. It is awesome. It is something (hopefully not just for now - I can count on.) I love it.
This week is also Teacher Appreciation Week. I think we need teacher appreciation YEAR. My sister and brother in law are both educators and are superstars. I had the privilege of seeing my sister in action when we were quarantined together with my mom and she is a real life superhero.
I love Krista Tippett’s new podcast Poetry Unbound - it is a little piece of heaven you an indulge in daily. The link is below with an ad for google that I love!
